How to take Rennie Peppermint Tablets?
For adults and children over 12, chew or suck on two tablets when needed, preferably 1 hour after meals and before bedtime. For heartburn, an extra two tablets may be taken between these times, not exceeding ten tablets in 24 hours. To optimise effectiveness, consume 1-2 hours after other medications, avoiding large quantities of milk or dairy.
Is Rennie Peppermint safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Rennie Peppermint is safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding when taken as instructed. However, it’s always best to consult your healthcare provider before starting any new medication during these times.
Is Rennie Peppermint suitable for everyone?
While Rennie Peppermint is suitable for most adults and children over 12, it’s not recommended for children under 12. If a child has persistent heartburn symptoms for over 14 days, seek medical advice.
When should you avoid taking Rennie Peppermint?
Avoid Rennie Peppermint if you have high calcium in your urine, kidney stones, severe kidney disease, high blood levels of calcium or phosphate, or if you’re allergic to any ingredients. Consult a healthcare professional before use if taking certain antibiotics, thyroid hormones, heart medications, or if you have sugar intolerance.
What are the potential side effects of Rennie Peppermint?
While side effects are rare, especially when following the recommended dose, they can include allergic reactions like rashes, itching, breathing difficulties, facial swelling, or anaphylactic shock. Long-term, high-dose use may cause elevated blood levels of calcium and magnesium, leading to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhoea, fatigue, muscle weakness, and headaches.
